Item description from seller

First edition. Slim octavo. Cover with a tiny corner stain else just about fine in stapled wrappers. Inscribed by the dedicatee, Hazel Williamson, presenting this copy to her (later) husband, the author: "To my dear Sydney / with my love / Hazel." The inscription is written beneath the printed dedication, which reads: "To / the onlie begetter / H. W." Smith and Hazel Williamson would marry in 1967 after the death of Smith's wife the year before. Hogmanay is the Scottish celebration of the final day of the year, in anticipation of the new year. One of reportedly only 30 copies printed, with an excellent association.
