8vo. Hardcover. Pp. 266. First Edition and includes a plate on front end-paper inscribed by the author. In very good condition; red cloth binding with gilt title on the spine. Faint shelf-wear, such as minor bumping at top and bottom of spine, and small ink stains particularly on the spine. Pages themselves are clean and tight with light foxing. Few pencil annotations and the fold-out map at the back has a small tear which doesn't obstruct the map itself. Ex-library bookplate on the front end-paper as well as library stamp in top right corner. Complete with b/w illustrations and photographs. Owen Letcher was a British gentleman adventurer and one of the first 'tourist' trophy sportsmen who made their appearance with the arrival of the railway at the Zambezi. He had studied mining and became a mining journalist in the 1920s in South Africa.
