Small octavo, 288pp. First omnibus edition, which hereby reprints together Le Carre's first two novels. About fine in the publisher's red boards, with no notable flaws. In a near fine first-issue dust jacket (with "X25" on rear panel), perhaps a shade toned on the spine, with a tiny pinhole at the very top of the rear panel. Publisher's price intact. This copy SIGNED by Le Carre on a bookplate which has been tipped onto the title page. The novels are both short and both more crime fiction than espionage (though they both feature George Smiley). Gollancz quickly put out this omnibus edition after the success of "The Spy Who Came In From the Cold," the novelist's first bestseller, which naturally re-kindled interest in these first two efforts. As with so many Gollancz titles from this period, scarce in choice condition. The first editions of both titles are quite rare and extremely expensive in similar condition; this is a very respectable substitute for the budget-minded collector. Seller Inventory # 13936

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: near fine. First Edition thus. Small octavo, 288pp. First omnibus edition, which hereby reprints together Le Carre's first two novels. Very good or better in the publisher's red boards, with small owner's name stamp to the front free endpaper, and the corners very gently bumped, with some smudges to the rear board. Else crisp and clean. In a fresh and lovely dust jacket, with faint even dust-soiling, but hardly any tears or chips, and the spine panel as fresh as the rest of the jacket. Code X26 on rear panel indicates--we understand--the second issue. The novels are both short and both more crime fiction than espionage (though they both feature George Smiley). Gollancz quickly put out this omnibus edition after the success of "The Spy Who Came In From the Cold," the novelist's first bestseller, which naturally re-kindled interest in these first two efforts. Seller: West Hull Rare Books - ABA, ILAB, P.B.F.A., Hull, YORKS, United Kingdom
Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. HARDBACK - A near fine book that has been boldly signed by the author to the title page. The red cloth boards are very clean indeed with the most minor bumping to the spine tips, with no bumping to the books corners. Internally, the pages are clean with no foxing or finger marks present to the inner text. Signed JOHN LE CARRE / AKA / DAVID CORNWELL. The dust wrapper is in very good or better condition with no toning to the spine, also with a clean rear panel. There is a small chip to the bottom corner of the front panel, with the dust wrapper neatly price clipped. The X25 is present to the bottom corner of the rear panel, denoting the correct first issue dust wrapper. A most attractive example, and quite scarce in such nice condition, made much scarcer with the authors signature present. Signed by Author(s). Seller Inventory # 001704
