Trotter wrote that "trauma was always the cause of subdural hematoma, with the accurate description of the source of the bleeding being 'the cerebral veins that pass from the brain to the tributaries of the superior longitudinal sinus through the dura' " (Peinkofer, Silenced Angels: the Medical, Legal, and Social Aspects of Shaken Baby Syndrome, p. 86.).
