2 vol. in-8, demi-maroquin bleu-nuit à coins bordés d'un double filet doré, dos à nerfs ornés de fleurons et motifs dorés, têtes dorées, couvertures parcheminées conservées, non rognés (Garidel), XXIII + 319 et (4) + 319 pp., index. Belle édition publiée par Alcide Bonneau sur l'édition originale de 1578, au tirage limité à 350 exemplaires numérotés sur vergé. Ce second texte d'Estienne consacré à la défense de la langue française s'attaque aux italianismes en vogue à l'époque, ce qui lui valut une convocation devant le Conseil de Genève et une saisie d'une partie des exemplaires de l'édition de 1578.
