First (only) Printing, one of ca.500 copies. Octavo (21.5cm); original photo-illustrated card wrappers; [4],5-66pp. Lengthily inscribed on the dedication page to Kenward Elmslie: "Kenward Can't remember if I told you* that I was a truck-driver but smashed my nose, wound up in NJersey, hit my bosses car / Love Eileen / *because I was drunk." Copyright page bears the red rubber-stamped credit "Photos by Irene Young," with the final stanza of "New York" rubber-stamped in blue on p.51, correcting an omission in the printed text. Subtle toning to wrapper extremities, faint stress crease at upper spine, with a tiny crease to lower left corner of rear wrapper; contents fresh; Very Good+ or better. The first full-length collection of poems by the noted New York School figure and one-time artistic director of the St. Mark's Poetry Project, several of which first appeared in the pages of Out There, Little Caesar, Ladies Museum, Synchro Harbor, and Broadway. This copy bearing an early and surprisingly revelatory inscription to poet and performer Kenward Elmslie (1929-2022), who at the time would have been among the elder statesmen of the New York School, who Myles would have met through her involvement with St. Mark's. A significant collection, elusive in commerce.
