A very lightly worn copy of the first edition of Carr's landmark first book. Four guarded colour plates. SIGNED by Carr on the front endpaper, just below an owner's inscription dated Christmas 1941. Interior in fine condition. Winner of the Governor-General's Award for non-fiction. Spine somewhat faded, a little bit more at the tail, several faint spots on the front cover. Increasingly scarce, even unsigned. 155 pp.
