Presentation copy from the editor to C. Van R. Cogswell. Historical sketches by Gayarre, Cable and others on the state, several related to the Civil War. Under Specimens of Oratory there are a number of speeches by Judah P. Benjamin. Also included are essays by Edward Livingston, John J. Audubon, and others, as well as fiction by Lafcadio Hearn, Grace King, Ruth McEnery Stuart, etc.
