One of 200 copies cut on wood and linoleum by Suyeon Kim, printed on BFK Rives paper, and signed by the artist. 'A Line' is a continuing illustration made of sixteen prints. Almost seventeen feet long, so accordion folded in a hard cover and slipcase. Graham Moss and Mike Tregear printed, hand coloured and bound the book. Illustrated with one full-page and 15 double-page woodcuts, frirst printed against a colour tint (to show the changing pattern of light throughout the day), then overprinted with lino-cuts and finally, hand-colouring in watercolours in red and yellow.The case uses blue book cloth and hand-made Korean paper, captured rather than glued so that the surface ripples on the boards. A loosely inserted prospectus is handset in Joanna. A fine copy. This astonishing book is a story about a rope line that leads the blind fisherman to the sea each day, and the nets that hang from the line, nets too often torn by wriggling fish and screaming gulls. It is a story about the line that connects one life to another, about lifelines and friendship lines. It is an adventure story; a transformation story filled with danger. It needs careful reading - as you must provide the words.
