Add to basketCard covers clearly worn and well used. So many minor faults, where do I start? Well, the spine is true, it's kept its shape, but most of the corners are rubbed, the front cover has a good number of indentations, scratches and scuff marks. A mild crease down the front, more visible from the inside surface than outer. The back cover has two major diagonal creases, the first from top edge to half way down the outer edge, second right down the center, from top to lower edge. Top, fore and lower edges of the leaves are a little dirty looking. Internally, most pages appear reasonably clean and bright, but there are a few page corners that have been actively turned, and half the lower corners at the very least, are half turned and a little creased, through heavy browsing and careless storage. Both inner covers are on the scruffy side, the front inner a little more so, as the ink from the opposite black ink illustrated page has rubbed off onto it. All said, it's still a decent reading copy, it is intact, the binding is pretty tight throughout. This seems to be the only copy I can see out there signed by the author, Steve Chibnall. As the title page is predominantly black, the signature was made on the facing page, the copy write page, just below the ISBN number. It's clearly authentic, as I can just about see the pressure impression of the signature left on the page underneath, the inside of the card cover, that is. Seller images provided. "I deliberately rub people up the wrong way", Pete Walker once remarked, "I want them to come into the cinema and be shocked." And shock them he did. No other British film-maker achieved the level of transgression that Walker regularly delivered to cinema-goers in the 1970s.
Beginning his career by making 'skinflicks', Walker went on to direct a trio of bona fide horror film classics. House of Whipcord, Frightmare and House of Mortal Sin probe beneath the glossy surface of the permissive society to expose a malevolent underworld of madness, obsession and vindictive violence.
Making Mischief is the first major critical study of the controversial director, and it has received the full cooperation of Pete Walker and his screenwriters. Extracts from a five hour interview with Walker appear throughout the book which also contains a wealth of previously unpublished photographs and, for the first time, reveals details of the Sex Pistols movie A Star Is Dead, which Walker was about to direct when the Pistols split.
