Hardback, bound in blue cloth with gilt titling and design to spine and upper front. 23 × 16cm, 203pp. The authors were brothers who both served in the RNVR and Donald (the elder brother) was an official Admiralty artist during the Great War. This book records the battles of the Royal Navy during the First World War, with chapters on German raiders, Coronel and the Falkland Islands, The Battle of Jutland, The Dover patrol, The Battle of Dogger Bank, British Submarines and the Heligoland Night Action, The Ostend Attacks etc. Illustrated fifteen tissue-guarded colour plates, and sixteen black and white plates. Condition: A good copy. The cloth has some small patches of fading at the front joint, rubbing to the spine ends and some darkening to the spine. The contents are in strong readable condition but the inner binding is a little strained in places with one of the colour plates and tissue guard neatly detached. All plates present.
