A lengthy archive of printed email correspondence from 2004-2011 between Hal McCoy and the late Anita Michel. The emails begin in 2004 with Michel formally addressing the 2003 Baseball HOF inductee as "Mr. McCoy" and discussing the feud between McCoy and Pete Rose. They continue over the course of the next seven years with the two corresponding regularly during baseball season. The pair develop an on-line friendship based on their mutual love of baseball and the Cincinnati Reds. Over time, the two begin to discuss various non-baseball topics including books and each other's families, vacations, etc. The correspondence ends in early 2011 with Anita explaining she is retiring and will no longer have access to the internet. McCoy was the long-time beat writer for The Dayton Daily News covering the Cincinnati Reds. He was inducted into Cooperstown in 2003. Shortly thereafter, he revealed that a stroke had left him legally blind; nonetheless, he continued to cover the Reds until his retirement in 2009. The archive includes copies of his blog which Anita printed off the internet as well as a pair of Dayton Dragons minor-league baseball programs which are autographed by McCoy to Michel. Please note this is an unpublished archive and the buyer does not receive the copyright to these emails or any right to publish them. The emails and articles are printed on single sheets of paper and stored in a series of folders. The stack of papers is approximately seven inches thick.
