Synopsis

The book covers over half a century of one man's life in 20th century America. The story begins in a west Texas oil town in 1926, and includes stories about the oil industry in its infancy, farming during the dry and dusty years of the 1930's, a World War and a booming America of the 60's and 70's. The saga finishes full circle back to a small Texas town of the 21st century. The author began a personal diary while still a student in high school. He continued writing through his service years of World War II, four years of college, and half a century as a businessman in Texas. These journals served as the foundation for Prairie Dog Journal.

About the Author

Henry Delbert Lewis Jr. was born in 1926 in a small Texas town during the Panhandle oil boom. He graduated from Texas Technological College in 1950 with a degree in Business Administration and immediately started Lewis Construction Company. Mr. Lewis was an active member of the Lion's Club and the First Christian Church. He served on the board of a local bank. Mr. Lewis has residences in Texas, New Mexico, and California and travels with his wife Wanda.
