Introduction by Arthur Conan Doyle. The book has light markings to boards, wear to head and foot of spine and a closed split to the rear hinge. The frontispiece is detached. Previous owner (Ruby Ewan) pencil name to FEP and cutout of a vase of flowers attached to FEP. There is a relevant newspaper cutting attached to the dedication page, dated 1972. What makes this copy very special is the signed photograph of the author attached to the front paste-down, dated 1931, being the same photograph as the frontispiece. In addition, there are two signed letters and a signed postcard from the author, largely concerned with his efforts to appear on the BBC in 1931. One letter requests that the recipient write to the BBC to assist his efforts. They are all written to Ruby Ewan, who owned the book.
