A friend of Rachmaninoff and a staunch Stalinist, Marietta Sergeevna Shaginyan (or Shaginian, 1888 1982) won the Lenin Prize in 1972 for the revised edition of her 1938 The Ulyanov Family, a fictional account of Lenin's early life.
