Prelims. frayed with minor loss to fore-edge at head, occasional marginalia, light browning, several leaves shaved to head affecting running title, later sprinkled calf with single gilt rule to edges, some wear to extremities and minor marking, rebacked in tan morocco with gilt tooling and devices and gilt lettered title label. Wing (CD-Rom, 1996), P1601; McAlpin III p. 735; ESTC R36670. "To the reader" signed: Rich. Perrinchief. Contains allegorical portrait frontispiece (A1v) signed: R White sculp. Printer's name from Wing CD. With a divisional title, "Majesty in misery: or, An imploration to the King of Kings", on A6r. The last 4 leaves bear poetry, a table of contents, and an advertisement. The first printing of the poem Majesty in Misery said to have been written by King Charles during his captivity at Carrisbrooks Castle in 1648, appears in this edition.Richard Perrinchief (1620/21 1673), Church of England clergyman. . He was employed by the bookseller Richard Royston to finalize Basilika the Works of Charles I (1662) after the original editor, William Fulham, was incapacitated by smallpox. Basilika contained a biography of Charles I, which Perrinchief wrote with the aid of materials supplied by Silius Titus. This biography was republished as The Royal Martyr in 1676 . ODNB. US$466.
