First Edition (first printing) - this copy signed by the author on the title page and with his presentation inscription to the front free endpaper: "To Monica [Sims] My own present for Christmas, but not totally for Christmas but in thanks for all the trouble from the fella who can't read, written proply now not proper to the lady who found it out!! Lots of love & happiness Ray, December '63". 8vo. 174pp. Blue cloth lettered in white at the spine. Several small areas of light staining to the top edge, else a fine copy in slightly dust soiled non-price-clipped dust wrapper. The author's first book, a quasi-autobiographical account of his Leicester youth. Gosling was a noted journalist, documentary maker and gay rights campaigner; the recipient of his inscription is Monica Sims, who produced his first film, the celebrated documentary 'Two Town Mad' (1963).
