In red cloth cover in good condition, paper stock is "war time" and evinces very minor toning; replacement jacket in generally fair condition with small loss at mid-front top, soiled and chipped in a few other spots. Book has been re-cased with new endpapers. Bruno Walter is a highly respected and important conductor of the 20th century having had a strong relationships with all the esteemed composers of his era: Mahler, Strauss, etc. and conducted many premieres of operas of the then "contemporary" composers. As a Jew, he emigrated from Europe due to Nazi racism, thereafter frequently leading performances at the MET and other US venues. Settled in Beverly Hills.
