4 vol. in-8, veau glacé fauve, dos à 5 nerfs réhaussés de filets dorés, pièces de titre et de tomaison de veau rouge et noir, triple filet en encadrement des plats, coupes filetées et coiffes guillochées, roulette dorée en encadrement des contreplats, tranches dorées, gardes de papier jaspé (Trautz-Bauzonnet), XV + 376, (4) + 411, (4) + 356 et (4) + 444 pp. Edition originale de cette nouvelle traduction par le comte Henri de La Bédoyère, illustrée de 12 belles planches de Moreau le Jeune, sur Chine avant la lettre, gravées par Villiers, Mariage et Simonet. Précieux exemplaire du traducteur, avec son ex-libris gravé, truffé d'un portrait de Fielding d'après Reynolds gravé par Cazenave et de deux autres suites d'illustrations pour ce roman : les 16 figures de Gravelot gravées par J. Punt pour l'édition hollandaise de 1763 et les 8 figures de George Cruikshank tirées de l'édition londonienne de 1831. Le comte de La Bédoyère (1782-1861) fut l'un des grands bibliophiles de son temps. On raconte qu'ayant dû se séparer d'une partie de sa bibliothèque en 1837, il passa le reste de sa vie à tenter de la reconstituer.
