An early book about invasive species (before they were called invasive species . . . Roth uses the term "alien creatures") and accessible to a juvenile audience. Charles Edmund Roth was a force in environmental education and coined the term "environmental literacy" (see his informative report for the federal Office of Education Research and Improvement, "Environmental Literacy: Its Roots, Evolution and Directions in the 1990s"). He spent his career working for the Massachusetts Audubon Society, including as the director of education, and also wrote 20 books. This book is his second. He was an accomplished illustrator as well. Illustrated boards matching the jacket with black-and-white photos and illustrations of animals throughout. A fine copy in a near fine jacket with a little edge and corner wear. Seller Inventory # 1567
