First printing (1963) in second state jacket. SIGNED and inscribed, with a drawing, by Maurice Sendak on half-title page. A remarkably nice copy. Pages are clean, unmarked, except for an owner's name on the front endpaper and a stamp on the half-title page. Binding firm. Some wear to exterior, mostly at spine and corner, which are frayed with some board visible. Jacket in less good condition: there is damage to bottom and along edges, with minimal loss of "Story and Pictures." Some faint staining. Jacket is NOT price clipped ($3.95).
