A nice little lot of Southwest Americana and with extreme provenance. Three items sent by Clyde I. Price, Bookseller, Clarendon, Texas, in a now tattered and split envelope, to Dudley R. Dobie, San Marcos, Texas, First Cousin of J. Frank Dobie, noted specialist of Southwestern Americana. The catalog from Price is "A Catalog of Dime Novels and Books Relating to TEXAS and the SOUTHWEST." The contents include that catalog, No. VIII, April, 1946, 18 pp. and with publisher's ads at rear, tick-marks and check-marks made presumably by J. Frank Dobie. Heavy softpaper wraps, staple-bound, illustration by H.D. Bagbee, in duotone, and another inside the front flap and as a header. The second item is "In Borderland: a story of frontier life in the early eighties," a novel by Caryl Devoe, bound in slightly bleeding red softpaper wraps, staple-bound, short split at top, but inside signed and inscribed by J. Frank Dobie thus, "Very strange that such as this should be printed as it is printed. Yet it is no worse than most of the picture shows - just as you - viewing. J. Frank Dobie 11/4/38." 36 pp., sunned along edges, and page of inscription is torn, but complete. Then two copies of "J. Frank Dobie," by Francis Edward Abernethy, being Southwest Writers Series, No. 1, Steck-Vaughn Company being the publisher, from Austin, Texas, with 52 pp., clean, unmarked and bright of interior (two copies).
