Allen Ginsberg contributed the introduction to this volume, in which he writes, "Huncke s prose proceeds from his midnight mouth, that is, literal storytelling, just talking … What is excellent as prose in The Evening Sun Turned Crimson is naked city man speech, clear and magnanimous as personal conversation.".
