[MINING]. W.J. Blair, B.A.Sc. Tor. Univ. Ontario Land Surveyor and Civil Engineer. 4 ½ pp ALS. Oct. 2, 1904. Manuscript in ink on Blair s printed lettersheets, dated from New Liskeard, Ontario. Addressed Dear Cousin, a fascinating and long letter in which he discusses information for publication on the location and mining of cobalt, nickel, and silver and its history near Lake Timiskaming, due north of North Bay. It is crossed by the S. & N.O. Ry as shown and at the place marked 1. a contractor had a blacksmith shop and a French man name LeRose as blacksmith who it is said made the first discovery of cobalt. Also mentions the company Chambers Ferland & Co.; also names Mr. Tretchway, Robert Laird, J.B. Myown, and J.R. Booth. Overall light toning, minor imperfections at the edges, and folds. Generally in very good condition, easy to read.
