About this Item
Original hand-drawn comic strip art by Jim Berry for the comic strip, Berry's World. Signed by Jim Berry in pencil on the last panel. Original black ink on white and beige paper with white pigment for original corrections and editing. Original handwritten editing comments at the top in red ink. Original sticker on the last panel says, "1972 by NEA, Inc." July 30, 1972. 18 1/2" x 9 5/8." Art is very clean and intact with minimal age wear. There is a small closed tear and faint staining on the left edge that slightly affects text (the title). Slight wrinkling on the right edge and a few holes from staples, tacks, or pins on the right corners. This is a six-panel comic strip. A man, Berry, sits in front of the TV in all of the panels. Panel One: Berry says, "This is an insult to my intelligence." Panel Two: "They're really scraping the bottom of the barrel." Panel Three: "Oh, brother!" Panel Four: "They've got to be kidding!" Panel Five: A voice from the other room says, "For heaven's sake, if you think television is so awful, why do you watch it day and night?" Panel Six: Berry responds, "Because it's there!" Jim Berry (1932-2015) was an American cartoonist who created Berry's World. Berry's World was a Sunday strip that ran from 1963-2003. Berry received the National Cartoonist Society Newspaper Panel Cartoon Award for 1965, 1966, and 1972 for his work on the comic strip. Seller Inventory # 020550
