Light brown boards with darker brown floral print & rules, backed with unlettered, light brown cloth (silk?); top edge gilt; laid paper; uncut fore and bottom edges; tissue guarded frontis. Bright, clean covers; very slight rubbing at spine ends; light foxing on prelims & rear end papers; tightly bound; clean interior; many leaves unopened at fore edge. 17 pieces by an invalid youth who died at 18 or 19 years old. The family lived in Florida and in Japan, perhaps China; much to do with life & love with references to chivalry, patriotism and the American navy. Verse preceded by 33 pages of intros signed only with initials with exception of a short bio of the youth by "His Cousin Hal". Genealogy suggests boy was son of George E. Belknap & Fanny Prescott. This would be Rear Admiral George Eugene Belknap who was from New Hampshire and based at times in Florida and Japan.
