First ("special autographed") edition, signed by Wilson; 2 volumes, 8vo, pp. xxix, [1], 248; [iii]-ix, [1], 276; map endpapers; 130 plates; original green faux leather cloth stamped in gilt on the upper covers and spines, t.e.g.; a little rubbing at the extremities but on the whole a very good, sound, and clean copy. Ernest Henry Wilson (1876-1930) "was a notable British plant collector and explorer who introduced a large range of about 2,000 Asian plant species to the West; some sixty bear his name" (Wikipedia). He later became keeper of the Arnold Arboretum at Harvard University. He and his wife died in an automobile accident in 1930.
