Hardcover. Number XI of 27 deluxe copies. There were 500 copies in the total edition, of which 350 were for sale. Signed by multiple contributors on the colophon. This is a marvelous production from the Whittington Press that celebrates the art of letterpress printing and the work of the dedicated men and women who create their books. In the introduction, John Randle writes "The one thing they do probably all share is the commitment to working in the environment of a small workshop. Hopefully, by taking the lid off these nine presses, their creative happenings may be better understood and more generally known." Each press has its own section of the book, with the printer providing several pages of commentary that is printed on yellow paper and a specimen sheet from one of their books. These are accompanied by several black and white photographs of the printing shop and the printer(s). Beautifully bound in Black and dark blue patterned boards with a black leather spine. Titling in silver to spine. In addition to the book, there is a portfolio, covered by the same paper as the book, with a black cloth spine. In an interior pocket, there are ten cardstock folders each containing a photograph, signed by the photographer on the folder below the photo. Both are housed in a drop-back box covered in black cloth with a black leather spine label. The book and portfolio are in fine condition. The box has fading and sunning but otherwise very good. Book and portfolio measure 10.75 x 12 inches. With 53 numbered text pages plus colophon and unnumbered photographs. PRI/100224. Seller Inventory # 37507
