reprint 1968, Inscribed and Signed on half title page and Signed again on full title page, faint soiling to edges of text block, light rubbing to bottom edges of boards, dj (now in mylar wrap) shows wear and soiling with a 11/2" tear to top right corner and a 1" tear to top center of front panel and a 1" tear to bottom left corner of rear panel along with small chipping to top/bottom of spine, original price intact, numerous reproductions of historical photographs - paintings and maps including a photo-copy of the original "Pilot's Certificate" issued to Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) on April 9, 1859, colored maps to end papers showing routes and ports on the river and railroad crossings - locks and dams.
