About the Author:

Sharon Short is the author of the novel My One Square Inch of Alaska(Penguin Plume) in which a pair of siblings escape the strictures of the 1950s industrial Ohio town on the adventure of a lifetime. She is alsothe the author of two mystery series (Josie Toadfern Stain-BustingMysteries and Patricia Delaney eGumshoe Mysteries), and a humorcollection, "Sanity Check: A Collection of Columns," which includes 100reader-favorites of her weekly humor and lifestyle column that ran inthe Dayton Daily News for more than a decade.

She now alsowrites as Jess Montgomery. Her first novel in the literary historicalmystery series, The Kinship Series, is THE WIDOWS, published by Minotaur Books.

Sharon has received Ohio Arts Council (OAC) IndividualArtist Grants and Montgomery County (Ohio) Arts & Cultural DistrictLiterary Artist Fellowships. Based on early work on THE WIDOWS, she wasnamed the 2014 John E. Nance Writer-in-Residence at Thurber House inColumbus, Ohio. She is also the Literary Life columnist for the DaytonDaily News, and makes her home in her native state of Ohio.
