Happy Goh has taught various language courses for different types of learners and purposes. She has taught ESL, critical thinking and writing, and professional communication at the secondary and tertiary levels. She has also designed writing courses such as Basic English, English for Academic Purposes, Bridging English for ASEAN scholars and People's Republic of China Senior Middle Two scholars. Happy has presented at the International Association of Applied Linguistics World Congress (AILA) and other conferences on learners autonomy, assessment, reading, and writing. Her current research interests include course curriculum and materials design. In 2000, Happy received the Commendation for Teaching Excellence from CELC.
Janet Chan has taught ESL at secondary and tertiary levels for more than a decade. In her roles as lecturers and coordinator of writing courses at NUS, she is actively involved in curriculum design, material development, and assessment. Janet also taught the English course for Senior Middle Two students from China studying at NUS. Apart from presenting papers at regional and international conferences, Janet has published papers on autonomous learning, learner's strategies, and online discussion forums. In academic year 2001-2002, she received the NUS Excellent Teachers Award. Her current research interest lies in the genre approach to writing.
Yang Ying has taught ESL and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) at the tertiary level for more than 25 years in mainland China and Singapore. She has worked as an associate editor for a number of national textbook projects in mainland China and has published papers in ELT-related journals. She currently coordinates and teaches writing skills courses. She received the Commendation for Teaching Excellence three times from CELC - for academic years 2004-2005, 2005-2006, and 2007-2008. Yang Ying's current research interest is in foreign language learners' collocation development and English language program and course design, aimed at creating significant learning experience.
