The saga of losing his job and the shock of losing his place in the England team for the winter tour is also examined in detail. The book continues with Gower recording the reasons for his decision to give up the captaincy of his county, Leicestershire. He takes a thoughtful look at developments in the English and international game, including the intrusive tour to South Africa. Finally, he reports from the West Indies as a spectator on England's performances without him. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition.
