Each volume is divided into sections with placement of metabolites based on chemical relationships. Volume I emphasizes metabolites that contain the indole moiety, including the classic indole alkaloids and the various classes of fungal tremorgens. Volume II concentrates on triterpenes, and Volume III contains a considerable number of highly bioactive metabolites including the trichothecenes, and fumonisins and related metabolites. Each volume contains a miscellaneous section to accommodate metabolites that are difficult to place into any of the designated sections.
