About the Author:
Rose Impey was born in Northwich, Cheshire. When she first left school she worked in a bank, but soon realised this was not for her, and went back to college to train to be a primary school teacher. Rose spends a lot of time visiting schools to read her work. Her books are widely published worldwide, including the United States, Australia, France, Denmark, Germany and Spain. Rose enjoys eating, talking, swimming and reading, although not necessarily in that order!
From School Library Journal:
Grade 1-3-- A girl and her younger sister cannot seem to find a way to interest their parents in a dog; however, when they take care of an old black Labrador retriever for a hospitalized neighbor, the situation slowly changes. As part of a series "for children who are just beginning to enjoy reading," the text is slightly more difficult than many beginning reading books, and a little easier than most chapter books. The book contains line drawings on every page that provide encouragement to readers who need it and a theme that is dear to the hearts of many. This good-humored story of not-so-gentle persuasion will be familiar to all who have ever dedicated themselves to a wish for a long time. --Carolyn Jenks, Oyster River Elementary School, Durham, NH
