Excerpt from Bibliography of the Works of Nathaniel Hawthorne
Of the early anonymous literary attempts of Hawthorne some will, from time to time, in all probability be made known.
In the preparation of this Bibliography, I have examined every title mentioned (and, in the majority of instances, several different copies have passed through my hands), with the single exception of A Rill from the Town Pump of which, to my knowledge, there is no copy in this country, and the in formation relating to it, which is given herein, was obtained through the courtesy of the British Museum.
