The effective promulgation of the doce trine of Universal salvation in central New York, commenced in 1805, with the ministry of the Rev. N. Stacy. One or two clergy man had preceded him by a year or two, and some little attention had been attracted to the subject. At least one society had been formed, and several congregations held meet ings at irregular periods, as the convenience or engagements of the preachers admitted of their attendance.
