From the Publisher:
Susan Martin can't believe her eyes when she finds a dollhouse at the Once And Forever Toy Shoppe that looks exactly like her own house. The eerie coincidence is fun at first. But when the mother doll falls and Susan's mom breaks her leg, Susan knows something is very wrong. Her family may never escape the dollhouse's deadly curse.
From School Library Journal:
Grade 4-6?Susan wanders into the Once and Forever Toy Shop, meets Mr. Tidwell, the eerie proprietor, and spies a stunning Victorian dollhouse. Little does she know that it is an exact replica of the home her family is about to move into. After settling into her new school and making friends, Susan returns to the store, sees that the dollhouse is decorated exactly like her own house and that the dolls look just like herself, her parents, and brother. The girl's life is now haunted by nightmares of being controlled by Mr. Tidwell. Her parents unintentionally make things worse by buying the offending plaything for her. The suspense continues to mount, and Susan decides that the only way she can regain control of her life and keep her family from becoming Mr. Tidwell's pawns is to burn it. She does, and watches in horror as her real house simultaneously bursts into flames. Nobody is hurt; the family re-groups and moves. On a whim, she returns to the mall and, in a shop that has replaced Mr. Tidwell's, sees a dollhouse exactly like her new home. The story is interesting, albeit predictable and contrived, and easy to read. None of the characters is especially memorable, except for the evil Mr. Tidwell. A mild thriller that will send shivers down the spines of readers.?Joan Soulliere, Wenham Public Library, MA
