About the Author:

Laura Lee Scott has worked as a professional writer, ghostwriter, editor, publisher, and graphic designer for over 25 years, and has authored three children's picture books, as well as memoirs and picture books for others. She also enjoys writing short stories and poetry and is currently working on a number of writing projects. Laura 's work has won numerous awards, including Mom's Choice Awards, a Cascade Writing Award, and a Faith & Culture Conference Writing Award. A member of The Authors' Guild, SCBWI, Willamette Writers, Faith & Culture Writers' Connection, and Oregon Christian Writers, she has also served as an "artist in resident" and enjoys reading her books in primary school classrooms whenever she gets the chance. In her spare time, Laura enjoys walking her dogs, playing the piano, volunteering with children and the homeless, and traveling with her husband and two teenage sons.

Review:

I tried to come up with an adjective to describe this book and I think the best I can come up with is Enchanting with a capital E. I'm not altogether sure what "Enchants" me more. The story itself or the Illustration.What I am sure of is the team of Laura Lee Scott and Cheryl Crouthamel created something big, It's a twist on a classic story, funny, witty, colorful and very entertaining. I think what I like best is the behind the scenes happenings on each page and of course the little mouse.

This book is clever, creative and very well written. The rhyme is catchy and fun to read; the plot is innovative, modern and funny.

This wonderfully crafted story takes the demure Jessica Claus of days gone by and fast forwards her into today's busy society. She IS the driving force behind Christmas, even if she doesn't always get any of the credit and is under appreciated. Of course, jolly, old St. Nick wouldn't be the special guy he is if he didn't realize the pressure she's under. This is where he steps in as a role model in a totally new way: He takes a step back and lets Mrs. Claus shine!

I must say, I love that the author, Laura Lee Scott, even points out that Mrs. Claus is enrolled in graduate school. Again, another positive message to young girls about setting goals! Do not let me scare you, this book is not bogged down by life lessons. It is charmingly and well written and you will find yourself smiling throughout the book and eagerly turning page after page. I loved the balance of teaching and whimsy in the book. I believe every child, boy or girl, will be engaged in this modern twist to an old classic tale of the Claus family.

The Santa Switch is a brilliant take on the events that lead up to Christmas morning. Although, Santa gets all the glory every wife knows that without her planning and support no man, including Santa, could get all he needs to get done for such a grand event. The illustrations are bold and eye-catching adding to the charm of this wonderful tale.
