Great for the lap-sit audience, these small, square, interactive board books in the Slide 'n Seek series have pull-out panels on each page with hidden pictures that reveal surprising connections to point at and talk about. The first page in Opposites shows a small girl going down the stairs; pull the tab at the top of the page, and there's a picture of a boy going up the stairs. A candy jar is full; pull the tab, and the candy jar is empty. In the book on shapes, the first page shows and names a circle; pull the tab, and there's a tricycle with wheels. Murphy does the same thing with other shapes: see the shape, name it, and then pull the tab to recognize the shape in everyday things. The colors are clear and bright; the uncluttered design is sturdy enough to withstand lots of repetition.
