World Cruising Handbook is a companion volume to Jimmy Cornell's internationally best-selling World Cruising Routes and contains invaluable practical information on all aspects of cruising worldwide. The third edition of World Cruising Handbook has been thoroughly revised to bring it in line with the enormous changes brought about by the Internet revolution. Entries for all 185 maritime nations of the world have been thoroughly revised in order to gather together in a single volume all the practical information anyone would need when planning to sail anywhere in the world.

Section I cover matters of general interest such as cruising formalities, health precautions, and radio and satellite communications.

Section II describes the history, economy, political situation, culture, climate, language and religion of 185 countries and dependencies, as well as giving an insight into the cruising attractions of each country. Detailed information is provided on:

  • Ports of entry
  • Customs, health and immigration requirements
  • Clearance procedures, cruising permits and bonds
  • Ports, marinas and technical facilities
  • Local time, currency, business hours, public holidays, electricity, etc.

Section III contains information on IALA buoyage, U.S. and British chart agents worldwide and a glossary of useful terms in several languages.

World Cruising Handbook is the indispensable reference guide for long distance sailors.

The information in this book is continuously updated on www.noonsite.com, Jimmy Cornell's website for cruising sailors.

From the Back Cover:

World Cruising Handbook can best be described as a nautical tourist guide. Here you will find all you need to know about the most popular cruising destinations around the world, from Australia to Antigua, Turkey to Tahiti. Or, if you prefer sailing off the beaten track, read about lonely Tristan da Cunha in the South Atlantic or the remote islands of the North Pacific Ocean.

If on the other hand you're just dreaming of traveling, the coloroful introduction to each country will give you a taste of what it's like to help you make up your mind where to go, while the more practical sections will tell you what to expect on arrival. Realizing how much time sailors spend clearing in and out of port and how bureaucracy and restrictions can mar an otherwise pleasurable cruise, Jimmy Cornell gives this information special attention.

World Cruising Handbook is the companion volume to World Cruising Routes--essential references for anyone planning a voyage anywhere in the world.

About the Author:

Jimmy Cornell is the acknowledged authority on world cruising, and his best-selling World Cruising Routes provides a wealth of information on the sailing routes of the world. During the last 25 years Jimmy Cornell has sailed more than 150,000 miles in all the oceans of the world, including two circumnavigations and two voyages to Antartica. As the founder of the cruising rally concept, his highly successful transatlantic and round-the-world rallies enabled thousands of sailors to fulfill their dream of blue-water sailing. Having retired from organizing rallies, Jimmy and Gwenda Cornell have now embarked on a leisurely cruising program of their own.

Aware of the needs and requirements of cruising sailors, Jimmy Cornell launced his own website, www.noonsite.com, to provide practical information on all countries listed in this book.

Book Description Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. A 443 page work of three sections with twelve chapters in the first two sections and section three covering items such as glossaries, bibliography and index. Volume itself has yellow covers with black lettering on the spine. The book is heavy for its size and clean on the interior. The outer edge of the pages have some marking and the top of the pages have the beginnings of some foxing. (You must look quite hard to see this foxing) Dust jacket is protected in an archival quality cover. The rear of the dust jacket has a small hole (like an ice pick was stuck through it). No, it does not affect the cover of the book at all! A touch of wear at the head and tail of the spine of the dust jacket and at corners. I am a very critical describer of books. Many may grade this book and dust jacket a step or two above what is described. However, I try to mention all possible defects, no matter how small or insignificant. Available for immediate shipment, carefully packed in a sturdy box!. Seller Inventory # 012733
