mill village of Turners Falls. Its ideal location at the Great Falls on the Connecticut River for manufacturing brought in a large number of factories at the beginning of the late nineteenth century, which in turn drew in numerous people from around New England, as well as Germany, Quebec, Poland, Great Britain, and Ireland. Local historians Peter S. Miller and Kyle J. Scott have compiled a fascinating collection of rare photographs to depict the story of Montague. This work is the first known book solely devoted to the photographic history of Montague. Miller is also the co-author of Images of America: Greenfield. Here, Miller and Scott present hundreds of rare and beautiful images that celebrate local history.
