About the Author:
Stevens is Director of JusticeWriters of America, an organization guiding justice personnel articulatetheir experiences in a confidential environment. Dr. Stevens has taughtcriminal psychology in major universities, and counselled high risk prisonersat Chicago, Charlotte, Boston, and New Orleans. He has published twenty-threeuniversity textbooks, five popular media books, and nearly one hundredscholarly articles (see crimeprofessor.com). He has led intervention groups forsexually abusive parents and abused children. He has led crisis interventionsessions among Boston and New York City officers after 9/11 and the BostonMarathon bombing, New Orleans and Houston officers after Hurricane Katrina, andChicago officers after the execution style murders of three of their own. Manyof his stories come from the mouths of those he has taught, counseled, andguided for the past 30 years.
