The Essene Teacher of Righteousness, born about 95~90 B.C., during the reign of King Alexander Jannaeus, became the revered head and prophet of the Essene Order; he was slain or executed by the Jewish authorities about 70 or 69 B.C.; his followers believed that he was actually God himself, appearing briefly as a man among men; and they declared that he was resurrected and returned to heaven on the third day, and would, in due course, send a divine representative for the purpose of establishing the Kingdom of Saints on earth. Texts now available demonstrate that Jesus, in all probability, had been an Essene; that he became convinced that he was the one foretold in the cultic scriptures, destined to terminate the earthly dispensation, conduct the Last Judgment, and inaugurate the everlasting Kingdom in Palestine. Unquestionably, this involves the most stupendous drama ever enacted in the annals of mankind.
