From the Author:
Harvard educated ex-policeman Hugh Quint is a maverick from Back Bay Boston. I guess I'm somewhat of a maverick myself. Before settling in New Hampshire I taught in the Alaska Bush which led to the publication of my first Ellery Queen story, "Yellow Fever". Then I wrote for awhile on the Anchorage Daily News . After that I rode my bicycle coast to coast and wrote my first book, BIKE HIKING for Doubleday. Mysteries are about the basic search for justice; the bad guy is brought to a proper end. In a small village like the ones I've lived in, the snugness, sharpness of the seasons, doing and undoing, comings and goings of familiar faces, reinforce the foment. Any coagulation of human beings is sugar for stories; Falstaffs, Hamlets, and Lady Macbeths live everywhere but are more visible in small towns and villages.
