PreSchool-K Through broad generalizations about activities, likes, dislikes, and appear ances, children and adults are contrasted. When the comparisons focus on physical attributes, the book is mildly successful: ``Children lose their teeth and grow bigger new ones. Grownups don't grow new teeth.'' However, when the comparisons switch to personal taste, too many inaccu rate and stereotypical statements mar the text. To say that ``Kids like to play out doors, even on drizzly days'' while ``Grow nups would rather stay inside and be clean and warm and dry'' is simply is not true of all childrennor of all adults. Nor is it con ceivably true of all adults or children that ``Grownups like getting shirts and socks for presents. Not kidsthey like toys. '' The illustrations of multi-ethnic families are at tractive as portraits, but they are static and do not infuse the book with the life it needs.
