The writing is forced and pedestrian and the illustrations are truly off-putting-lots of pink fairies in lime green outfits and children who look 40. For better choices try Jon Buller's No Tooth No Quarter! (Random, 1989) or Peter Collington's The Tooth Fairy (Knopf, 1995).
