A teacher and a scholar, Rabbi Solomon Grayzel focused much of his research on papal-Jewish relations. Awarded a Ph.D. from Dropsie College, he taught at Gratz College and Dropsie University and was long associated with the Jewish Publication Society. The Church and the Jews in the X/IIth Century was originally published in 1933 and reissued in 1966. His History of the Jews first appeared in 1947 with a revision in 1968.
Kenneth R. Stow is currently a professor of Jewish history at Haifa University. Among his published works are Catholic Thought and Papal Jewry Policy, 1555-1593 and Taxation, Community, and State: The Jews and the Fiscal Foundations of the Early Modern Papal State.
