From School Library Journal:
Grade 4-7 Tony's first real jobbabysitting for a three year old in a seashore townbecomes much more when Mrs. Dubois goes off to the Bahamas for the weekend leaving Tony to cope, not only with Duncan, but with a storm, burglars, a duck egg in the process of hatching, and his own uncertainties. Fortunately, a local girl provides company, advice, and help. All turns out well in the end, and Tony, richer for the experience (not only financially) agrees to stay for the rest of the summer. This fast-paced short novel has several problems: stereotyped adults, poor character development, and too much happening too fast. However the dialogue is humorous, and the chapters are short. Nothing memorable, but there are some funny moments, and anyone who has ever babysat will appreciate Tony, The Ten-Speed Babysitter.Constance Pierce, Tabor Academy, Marion, Mass.
