PreS-Gr 4--This title has much to offer: 100 songs of childhood, many of them old favorites; clear text and simple, easily played piano and/or guitar accompaniments; and games and activities to be used in conjunction with the tunes. There are a number of songs in Spanish, one in French (with English translations), a number of African-American origin, and one Chippewa lullaby. The illustrations are stylized, almost like computerized graphics, and suit the breezy text and cheerful songs. While P. Fox's Go In and Out the Window (Holt, 1987) is visually much more attractive, it includes only 61 of the most familiar tunes. The focus of Sharon, Lois & Bram's Mother Goose (Little, Brown, 1986) is nursery songs and rhymes. Eddleman's title holds its own against these two standards in the field.
