About the Author:

SAM SELVON was born in Trinidad, where he completed his first book, A Brighter Sun, which brought him instant recognition. Later he moved to UK, where he spent more than twenty years and wrote most of his major work. He is widely recognized as one of the major Caribbean writers to have emerged in the post- War era and has been twice awarded the Guggenheim Fellowships. He lives in Calgary, Alberta, where he is at work on another novel.
